REEF Scuba is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in the United States, and operating internationally. We are dedicated to the urgent work of coral reef conservation and restoration.

Since our founding in 2020, REEF Scuba has been actively engaged in hands-on restoration projects across various ocean basins, partnering with local communities and organizations in Mexico, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Honduras. Our team, comprised of marine scientists, policy experts, educators, and experienced divers, is committed to advancing the field through scientific research, development and promotion of innovative technology, and impactful policy advocacy.

We are particularly proud of our Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). This accreditation provides us with a crucial platform to participate directly in UN discussions and influence global marine conservation policies. It signifies our commitment to effecting change at the highest levels of global governance, as well as the most local.

At REEF Scuba, we believe that informed and empowered individuals who work in the ocean every day are key to a healthier ocean. We're building a world where recreational divers, scientists, and policymakers are united in a collaborative effort to maintain the health and beauty of our coral reefs for generations to come.

The ocean tourist comes to check things off their list: a picture on the beach, a swim with a dolphin, building a sandcastle. They return home and go back to the daily life they knew before.

An Ocean Champion visits the ocean in order to be surrounded by a beautiful natural world that touches their soul. When they step out of the water, they continue taking steps in their personal life and pushing for policies that support the health and beauty of the under-water-world they hold dear. They tell their friends, family – anyone who will listen – about what is happening to the marine life they have seen up close, and they share tools which help others be part of the solution.

Using less plastic and being careful not to kick coral are great introductory steps, but REEF Scuba goes beyond those. We help diving professionals create locally tailored conservation policy plans, build technological expertise for coral monitoring and restoration, and learn about the ecology of the ecosystem they are exploring.
